Synopsis
The EMVPO conferences gather world leading scientists in visual and physiological optics. The focus is on how the optics of the eye affects vision and on how it may be corrected and improved. The meetings are much appreciated due to the high scientific quality and the informal and intimate atmosphere, which encourages the exchange of new ideas and networking. It is a three-day meeting without parallel sessions and it attracts participants from all over the world.
The conferences are hosted by different European laboratories involved in visual and physiological optics. The first conference was held in Wroclaw, Poland, in 1999 and it is now a biannual conference: Granada, Spain, in 2004, London, UK, in 2006, Heraklion, Greece, in 2008 and now the Visual Optics group at KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology) in collaboration with the European Optical Society is pleased to welcome you to the 5th meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.

Venue
Stockholm is often called the world´s smallest big city or the world´s biggest small town. Both descriptions apply. While Stockholm has everything a world-class metropolis ought to have, it´s all easily accessible.
Stockholm on Top-Ten
Stockholm is ranked as one of the most popular congress destinations in the world and offers outstanding possibilities to host international meetings. Stockholm combines the charm of a small, old town with the cultural and commercial attractions of a big, modern city. Thecity offers a wide selection of shops, department stores, museums and restaurants - and most are within walking distance!
Stockholm, one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, is built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. The beautiful buildings, the greenery, the fresh air and the proximity to the water are distinctive traits of this city.
With its 750 year history and rich cultural life, Stockholm offers a wide selection of world-class museums and attractions. Most of the city´s attractions can be reached on foot, and there´s a good chance of experiencing a lot of things in a short time.
Visit Stockholm City Hall. Climb the City Hall tower for a fantastic view of Stockholm. Don´t miss Gamla Stan, Stockholm´s oldest attraction and one of the best preserved medieval city centers in the world. Walk through small winding streets lined
with stores full of handicrafts, antiques, art galleries and cafés. The Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral are also located in Gamla Stan. Don´t miss the chance to see Stockholm from the water. Naturally a city built on fourteen islands offers arvelous views over the water. There are many different sightseeing tours to choose from. And if fourteen islands aren´t enough, Stockholm offers a wonderful archipelago with 30,000 islands, islet rocks and skerries.
