Expectations are that during the year 2009, in every second more than 30 solid-state image sensors will be produced world-wide. Soon our world will see more cameras than people. No doubt: Electronic imaging is omnipresent! Whether in cell phones or in laptops, in still-picture or in video cameras, in game consoles or in toys, for scientific imaging or for artistic documentation, for biomedical diagnoses or for industrial production, for business or for entertainment: Solid-state image sensors are indispensable tools for almost any human activity in everyday life. In the past decade, electronic cameras have become a commodity, and the cheapest ones cost just a few euros. Often, however, their performance leaves much to be desired, and it is far from what is possible with optimized CCD and CIS (CMOS Image Sensor) processes, advanced design techniques and clever pixel designs.
This conference is devoted to today’s most relevant and most promising fields of electronic imaging: Application-specific image sensors (using smart pixels and related approaches), high-performance real-time 3D imaging, electronic imaging with novel materials and single-photon, solid-state image sensing.
We all know that the results of yesterday’s hero experiments in the research lab will find their way into today’s industrial production and quality inspection lines, and tomorrow we will encounter them in household items. For this reason, this conference addresses all involved stakeholders: Scientists and engineers in electronic imaging R&D, users of imaging solutions who demand the highest performance from their equipment for their particular application, interested professionals from all segments of academia and industry where imaging is significant, and all technically-oriented persons who would like to know where electronic imaging is heading.
Let us all explore the Frontiers in Electronic Imaging together!

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 26 January 2009
Notification to authors: 19 February 2009
Publication of the programme: April 2009
Submission will open in January 2009! Should you wish to be informed when the submission opens, then please send an e-mail to: munich@myeos.org.
Conditions: Before submitting an abstract, please read the following conditions for abstract submission carefully:
Contributions will be accepted for oral and poster presentation. Please indicate your preference.
At least one author is requested to register properly, to attend the event and present the abstract as scheduled.
All accepted abstracts will be published in the EOS conference digest (CD-Rom or print) and in the advance / final programme (online and print).
Abstracts must cover a minimum of half a page and a maximum of two pages and must be written according to the EOS abstract guidelines, which can be downloaded at www.myeos.org/abstractguidelines.
The EOS is authorized to circulate your abstract to chairs and programme committee members for review purposes.
To ensure the high-quality of our topical meetings, conferences and workshops, all abstracts will be reviewed by the Chairs and Programme Committee members. In correspondence with the Programme Committee, the EOS has the right to reject any abstract that does not meet quality or content requirements.
Prepare before submitting an abstract: Authors are requested to submit an extended abstract of a maximum of two pages with at least one figure. Abstracts must be submitted according to the EOS abstract guidelines.
Download the EOS abstract guidelines at: www.myeos.org/abstractguidelines. Please do not submit abstracts that do not correspond to our guidelines.
Make sure that you have all necessary contact information for your abstract submission ready: name, first name, affiliation, address, phone number, e-mail address of contact person (person who is going to present the abstract) and co-authors.
If you have prepared all those information, please submit your abstract online at the event website: www.myeos.org/munich2009_MOC (for Manufacturing of Optical Components) or www.myeos.org/munich2009_FEI (for Frontiers in Electronic Imaging). Then got o your preferred sub-conference website and click on “submit an abstract” and follow the online instructions. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at: munich@myeos.org or +49-511-2788-159.
JEOS:RP - Special Publication Offer
All authors of accepted abstracts receive a 20% discount on the publication rate for JEOS:RP, the electronic journal of the European Optical Society (http://www.jeos.org/). The paper submitted to JEOS:RP must be an original contribution that is connected to the conference presentation and must be submitted no later than 15 August, 2009. The publication rate for authors of the event is 280€ (instead of 350€).
